I buy mostly organic produce and love the idea of buying local. I am trying to buy more of my produce from the great farmer’s markets in town. I will let you know when and where a few of them are:<\/p>\n

1. Orlando Farmer’s Market at Lake Eola Park<\/a>: Every Sunday from 10 am-4 pm at Lake Eola
\n2. Winter Park Farmer’s Market<\/a>: Every Saturday from 7 am-1 pm at the old train depot, located at 200 West New England Avenue
\n3. College Park Farmer’s Market<\/a>: Every Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm at the parking lot of Infusion Tea on 1600 Edgewater Drive in College Park<\/p>\n

There is also a Homegrowncoop<\/a> that is working on bringing more local produce to town and encouraging the movement to buy local. You can even get your organic produce delivered to you.<\/p>\n

Another interesting thing I wanted to share is which foods you should buy organic. Not all produce actually needs to be organic.<\/p>\n

Here are the dirty dozen (You want to buy these organic because they are the dirtiest when it comes to pesticides):
\n1. Peaches (the dirtiest)
\n2. Apples
\n3. Sweet Bell Peppers
\n4. Celery
\n5. Nectarines
\n6. Strawberries
\n7. Cherries
\n8. Lettuce
\n9. Grapes
\n10. Pears
\n11. Spinach
\n12. Potatoes<\/p>\n

Here are the 12 cleanest and lowest in pesticides:
\n1. Onions (the cleanest)
\n2. Avocado
\n3. Sweet Corn
\n4. Pineapples
\n5. Mango
\n6. Sweet Peas
\n7. Asparagus
\n8. Kiwi
\n9. Bananas
\n10. Cabbage
\n11. Broccoli
\n12. Eggplant<\/p>\n

It is also important to purchase organic milk and butter and lean, organic, and grass-fed meats when possible.<\/p>\n
